When our service counselor asked us "what does your team like to do together," all of us answered with "eat!"

 

Joel and Nicole have a different philosophy on eating than Meghan, George and I do. These two always try to conquer all the dishes we order so they have officially become our "clean-up crew." It's nice to have people on the team who will finish everything off. In this picture, Joel and Nicole are displaying their excitment over trying the McDonald's "Pea Pie" ....yes.... in China, McDonalds has pies that are Pea flavor. I can't tell you about them because I haven't tried it. This was the first time that either of them had and while it wasn't their favorite they both managed to finish it all. In case you're wondering what other pea flavored items you can get in China, you might be interesting in knowing that popcycles also come in Pea flavor.


Another popular thing for us is Hotpot. This big bowl in the middle is sitting on a burner so the water is constantly boiling. There are two sides in hotpot: spicy and not spicy. I only eat the spicy...it's much more flavorful...but both are good in their own way. You get all the food raw and then throw it all in their together to cook. This is a fun meal and we do it much more often in the winter then the hot summertime.

A highlight of our recent trip to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia was the amazing food! We had dinner out at a Mongolian restaurant on Friday where we ate in this round yurt. We had some amazing mutton and really good milk tea (which is in the big pot in the middle). Inner mongolia offers some food we dont get often in beijing at restaurants like cheese, potatoes and yoghurt.
